PCMCIA (Personal Computer Memory Card International Association) - Definition
PCMCIA (Personal Computer Memory Card International Association) is the acronym representing approximate 500 companies that developed a small device the size of a credit card that helps by adding memory to portable computers. However, these cards, called PC cards have now advanced and now offer more Rom or RAM, used as modem or fax modem cards, and are even sufficient enough to work with portable disk drives. Another advantage is that PC cards can be exchanged without the need for the computer to be rebooted.
