Keyword - Definition
A Keyword, in an Internet search, is a word or group of words, also known as a search string, that is usually entered into the address bar of a web browser, such as Mozilla Firefox, in order to find matching web pages. As it was not possible to ask natural language questions to find the desired sites, Keyword searches were used instead. These Keywords captured the essence of the topic in question and were likely to be present on all sites listed by the search engine. Many modern search engines have methods for determining which words in a search string are important and are therefore should be treated as keywords.
