Junk Mail - Definition

Junk Mail is a term used to describe unsolicited commercial email that is sent to hundreds and even thousands of people at a time without their prior approval. The Junk Mail usually promotes a particular product or service and even a scam in order to get other people to buy a product or service. Junk Mail is economically viable because advertisers have no operating costs beyond the management of their mailing lists, and it is actually difficult to hold senders accountable for their unsolicited mass mailings.
