IrDA (Infrared Data Association) - Definition
IrDA is an abbreviation for Infrared Data Association. It is a nonprofit organization founded in 1994 whose goal is to develop globally adopted specifications for infrared wireless communication. IrDA sets the standard on how infrared signals are used to send data between two devices: for example, between two computers, or a computer and a printer. IrDA requires line-of-sight transmission like a TV remote control.
