InterNIC (Internet Network Information Center) - Definition
The InterNIC (Internet Network Information Center) organization was formed in 1993 to handle Domain Name Registrations. While Network Solutions currently manages the organization, the National Science Foundation, AT&T, and General Atomics also play a part in how the group is run. InterNIC also maintains a database of domain names, so you can search to see if the one you want is available for purchase.
