Infrared Port - Definition

An Infrared Port is an optical port on a computer that enables communication with other computers or devices by using infrared light, without cables. Infrared data communication plays an important role in wireless data communication in laptops, personal digital assistants (PDAs), digital cameras, mobile telephones, pagers and other devices. Infrared is also used to control a TV set with a remote control.
