Hot Fix - Definition
A Hot Fix is a term used for a quick, important fix for a bug that cannot wait until the next release to be fixed. Most Hot Fixes are in the form of small patches that can be downloaded from the software vendor’s website. In Microsoft Windows, Hot Fixes are small operating system patches designed to address specific issues, such as newly discovered security holes. These are usually small files that are often automatically downloaded and installed on the computer via the Windows Update utility module.
