Graphics Card - Definition
A Graphics Card is a piece of hardware designed to translate an image from computer memory into a signal that can be displayed on an output device, usually a monitor. Also called a Video Card, the hardware might in fact be a dedicated area on the motherboard. Among the most popular self-contained graphics card products are nVidia’s GeForce Series Cards and ATI Radeon Series Cards. Professional computer animators are obligated to use more powerful graphics cards that can cost in the thousands of dollars.
