Driver - Definition
A Driver is a special type of computer program capable of determining the way in which it will communicate with a peripheral device such as a printer, monitor, CD-Rom, hard drive, or scanner. Driver files for a hard drive are loaded into the computer’s memory and cannot be seen. However, other types of drivers such as those used for a scanner are typically a plug-in, meaning they are accessed from within an application.
