CD-KEY - Definition
A CD-KEY is a unique set of numbers and/or letters provided with software programs to help prevent software piracy. It is used to identify that the copy of the program is original. Without this required identification number, a user would not be able to install that particular software into a computer. Certain software such as Windows XP also use online activation to prevent multiple people using the same key.
