Boot - Definition
Have you every heard someone say, “the computer is booting up?” This is also known as warming up and occurs when the computer is first turned on. Boot means that the programs needed for the computer to function properly are being loaded— the operating system is loaded and the memory is being cleared. When you first turn on your computer, that action is refereed to as a cold boot where if you press the reset button to restart a computer that is already on, that is referred to as a warm boot.
