AppleTalk - Definition
AppleTalk is the Apple Computer network architecture and network protocols developed in the early 1980s. Its purpose was to allow multiple users to share resources, such as files and printers. The devices that supply these resources are called Servers, while the devices that make use of these resources are referred to as Clients. Therefore, AppleTalk is actually one of the early implementations of a distributed client/server networking system. AppleTalk is now deprecated by Apple in favor of TCP/IP networking.
