Antialiasing - Definition

Antialiasing, in computer graphics, is the process of removing or reducing the jagged distortions in curves and diagonal lines so that the lines appear smooth or smoother. The pixels that surround the edges of the line or curve are changed to varying shades of gray or color in order to blend the sharp edge into the background. This actually makes text seem a little blurred but, strangely enough, it is more readable.
